Rhinoplatsy with the specialist - cutting-edge scraless rhinoplastysurgery

Being a specialist in rhinoplasty surgery Prof. M.D. Rainer Staudenmaier uses various surgery techniques. The incisions are mostly made on the inside of the nose so no visible scars will remain.

Rhinoplasty surgery - more than simply improving your aesthetic appearance

During rhinoplasty I use bones and cartilage to sculpture and shape your nose and its structures to achieve an individual but natural, beautiful and balanced facial appearance. In more than 50% of the cases I also need to perform surgery of the interior anatomy of the nose to be able to shape and sculpture the exterior anatomy of the nose. Furthermore I aim to at least keep the existing level of nasal breathing but I always aim at improving the performance level of your nasal breathing - this comes natural because being a rhinoplasty specialist the functional
aspect is just as important to me as the cosmetic appearance. My goal is achieved when your new nose perfectly fits your face and your natural appearance and your nasal breathing is perfect just the same.

Open or closed rhinoplasty using scarless or low scar potential incision techniques

Excessive cartilage or bone structures will be removed or straightened out during the approximately 2 hour lasting procedure. In some cases cartilage or bone structures need to be grafted, as in reshaping a saddle nose for example where the deformed structure needs to be lifted. For rhinoplasty surgery either the closed or open technique is used. In closed surgery all incisions to reshape the nose at the bridge or at the tip are performed inside the nose and thus are invisible. This means that there will be no visible scars.Sometimes it might be necessary to make external incisions to achieve the desired result. Mostly the incision is performed at the culumnella, the narrow strip of tissue that separates the nostrils, during what we call an open surgery technique. But even then scars are hardly visible afterwards when the incision is performed correctly. Which method will be chosen depends on the desired result. Not only aesthetic reasons but also functional limitations of nasal breathing sometimes require open or closed surgery techniques. The decision of which method to chose depends on the individual case.

An innovative approach to correct the exterior anatomy of the nose - Prof. M.D. Staudenmaier's Nose Modelling Procedure (NMP)

The removal of a hump on the nose traditionally required the nasal bones to be fractured using a technique known as osteotomy. Osteotomy typically involves increased bruising and swelling of the area around the eyelids and longer recovery times. Patients are not allowed to wear glasses for a couple of weeks and patients are quite handicapped in their leisure time activities. During recovery time obvious deformities can sometimes be seen or irregularities like bone edges can often be touchable.

Thanks to my newly developed Prof. M.D. Staudenmaier Nose Modeling Procedure (NMP), which uses a specially designed high frequency medical cutter unit - inserted via a special pathway - I am capable to precisely and gently reduce the bony hump and cartilage material until the desired result is achieved. The huge advantage of that technique is, that there will be no misaligned bones during the healing process, edged or protruding bone material is not to be expected. After the removal of the external splint about a week after surgery the nose is completely stabilized. The new and improved procedure is far less invasive on nearby tissue and structures. The expected outcome is being reached faster and the technique allows for more predictable results. Since the given bone structure and stability of the nose isn't changed at all patients experience much less pain. They can return to their normal daily routines a lot faster and start being active in their favorite sports the way they are used to a lot quicker.

Post-op care - daily check-ups in our office, postop care in our office

To ensure the surgery result gets fixed and the healing process is aided I will fit an external splint onto your nose - and if necessary plastic aids will be placed inside the nostrils. I usually do not use packings inside your nose so it will be possible for you to breathe right after surgery. You can take care of cooling your face with ice packs or similar yourself and the application of special ointments can also be done by you. I will supervise the healing and recuperation process doing my daily routine visits starting the day after surgery. For post-op out of hospital care I will be looking forward to seeing you in my office.
